Starting from 16 March 2024, on the occasion of the World book and Copyright Day, Yuexiu Commercial Management, a subsidiary of Yuexiu Property, joined hands with Yuexiu Public Welfare Foundation for the first time to launch the "Passing on the Fragrance of Books in Hundred-mile Azalea" public welfare book donation activity, mobilising the company's staff, tenants of its office buildings, retail malls, hotel flats, partners and the community to collect the books donated to "one library and one school" in Bijie Hundred-mile Azalea Management Area (Hundred-mile Azalea Community Library and Hundred-mile Azalea Pengcheng Zaigong Primary School). With the joint efforts of all walks of life, the donation of books was highly effective, with a total of more than 50,000 books collected in just 30 days, which were carefully sorted, sterilised and packed by volunteers and transported to Bijie, Guizhou Province, of which 40,000 books were donated to Hundred-mile Azalea Community Library and 10,000 books were donated to Zaigong Primary School library, to help revitalise the villages with the power of love and knowledge, and to provide more reading opportunities for the local children and the community.
On 23rd April 2024, a warm and far-reaching public welfare activity - "Passing on the Fragrance of Books in Hundred-mile Azalea - The First Public Welfare Book Donation Ceremony of Yuexiu Commercial Management" was held in the Zaigong Primary School of Pengcheng Street and the Hundred-mile Azalea Community Library in Bijie City, Guizhou Province, with the support of Yuexiu Commercial Management and Yuexiu Public Welfare Foundation.
01 Donation of books for the public welfare
During the 30-day campaign, the three major sectors of retail malls, office buildings and hotel flats under Yuexiu Commercial Management, through extensive media coverage, government street and community mobilisation, and school organisation and mobilisation, caring people from all walks of life took the initiative to join the book donation campaign, and Yuexiu's employees and tenants of office buildings, retail malls and hotel flats responded positively. During the activity, people came and went at the book donation points, the number of books grew continuously, and many caring people bought brand-new sets of books to donate.
02 Volunteering starts from the heart, dedication lies in action
On 23 April 2024, Yuexiu Commercial Management, Yuexiu Public Welfare Foundation, brand public welfare ambassadors and public welfare volunteers went to Bijie City, Guizhou Province, to participate in the "Book Donation Ceremony" held in the Zaigong Primary School and Hundred-mile Azalea Community Library. ". The activity not only reflected the support of Yuexiu Commercial Management and Yuexiu Public Welfare Fund for rural education and children's growth, but also reflected the concern and assistance of Yuexiu Commercial Management for the public welfare of Qiandongnan by taking books as the seeds and planting the beautiful desire for reading and learning in children's hearts.
At 10:00 am on the day of the event, the book donation ceremony officially began, Mr Zhu Wenhuan, President of Yuexiu Commercial Management, came to Zaigong Primary School and completed the donation ceremony together with Principal Wang Tianda of Zaigong Primary School of Pengcheng Street in Hundred-mile Azalea, donating children's playground facilities and physical education teaching equipment valued at RMB 30,000 yuan for Zaikou Primary School and completing the inauguration of Yuexiu Commercial Management's Public Welfare Library, donating 10,000 books to the library and building exclusive book corners for each class while bringing public welfare gift packages to all teachers and students, who had simple and sunny smiles on their faces.
After the donation ceremony, the ambassadors went into the students' classrooms and interacted with the local students through reading, handcrafts, calligraphy and writing, fun sports and other interactive courses to stimulate the children's nature of enjoying learning.
